A rising quality of life and high rates of resource consumption patterns have had an unintended and negative impact on the urban environment – generation of wastes far beyond the handling capacities of urban governments and agencies.

In 2030, almost two thirds of the world’s population will be living in cities. This fact requires the development of sustainable solutions for urban life. Waste management and reducing CO2 and vehicle exhaust emissions—are just a few examples for the demands of future cities.

But these problems have also provided a window of opportunity for cities to find solutions – involving the community and the private sector; involving innovative technologies and disposal methods; and involving behavior changes and awareness rising.

We introduce WASCOM. It is a comprehensive logistics solution that saves time, money and the environment. It uses wireless sensors to measure and forecast the fill-level of waste containers and generates smart collection plans using the most efficient schedules and routes.

How it works?

Garbage containers transmit signals to indicate that they are over some threshold percent of fullness. It can be 75%, 80% or you can define it by your experience. Over the mobile communications network (GPRS or SMS), the signals are sent to a central web-based software application that can be used and with strictly defined permissions managed by waste management company/institution.

In the WASCOM, the capacity of the container is visualized on a map in real time, and the intelligent backhand system is used for spatial analysis. This input is taken as a basis for WASCOM to automatically plan the best optimal route (the quickest or shortest) for waste collection—garbage trucks travel only to those containers that actually need to be emptied.

By introducing the Smart Waste Management System, your city will make a step forward for becoming a Smart City. The targeted waste collection saves time, money, and fuel. Regarding the environment this concept reduces exhaust gas emissions CO2 and noise levels for local residents. WASCOM assumes that garbage truck tours by optimization can be reduced by minimum 30%.
